Bonus Pak Choi

Our pak choi plants are getting so huge we need to use bigger bags! This means even better value – especially since, for a short time only, we are offering Bonus Pak Choi for only 50p each. Get some while you can! Pak choi is delicious in many Oriental recipes or just stir fried with chillies and ginger.

Our own new season rhubarb is ready now. If you would like us to include some in your box, let me know. The first stirrings of spring are also encouraging the over-wintered kale and Oriental leaves to bolt and flower which brings a short spell of additional deliciousness. While the tops look like tiny broccoli stalks they can be used to provide a particularly nutritious boost to your leafy greens.

Kumquats from Spain are another sign of spring. They might look like tiny oranges but you can eat them whole including the skin and seeds. The tangy citrus centre is surrounded by a surprisingly sweet skin. Try a handful for £1.50. Kumquats, with or without the addition of lemons, also make a nice marmalade ingredient.

We also have British apples, pears, mushrooms, leeks, celeriac, red, white and green cabbages, white onions, carrots, potatoes and beetroot. The potatoes are Ambo from west Cumbria.

From our own tunnels: we are picking rocket, flat leaf parsley, rhubarb,  Swiss chard, rainbow chard, chives,  pak choi, chervil, miner’s lettuce, kale and a variety of Oriental leaves. Also, our own lettuce is now big enough for spring salad packs.
