Here’s an interesting offer – it’s called the £2 General Bonus Bag: choose any ONE item we supply (fruit or veg) and as long as supplies allow, we’ll bring you a bag of it weighing more than you would normally get for the price. It’s hard to be precise about how much extra you would get because it can depend on the size of the item.
The good news is our biggest polytunnel is now mended but the plants in it did suffer under the snow so some herbs and leafy greens are still scarcer than normal for this time of year.
We re-use them so thanks for returning them. To prevent them getting spoiled in bad weather, lots of customers leave out sturdy plastic boxes to protect the produce and the empties. Perhaps you could consider that if you don’t do it already.
Enjoy a Pancake Family Fun Day at Slack House Farm (home of Birdoswald Cheese) on Tuesday 17th February 9.30 AM to 12 noon. Start by milking the cows and finish by eating your pancakes! £5 per child. Accompanying adult free. Please book in advance. Contact Dianne: 07900472342; Dianne@slackhousefarm.plus.com
Lots – but most of it isn’t growing so we’re going to have to give it a rest until the weather warms up.
We have winter vegetables direct from an organic farm in East Lothian: kale, green cabbage, red cabbage, white cabbage, leeks, celeriac, carrots and beetroot. The Cumbrian potatoes are Ambo and we have swedes from the same grower. We also have English parsnips, kohl rabi and onions as well as pomegranates and clementines from Spain.
We have 25 different box types and they may or may not contain the items listed above. If you would like to receive any of them, let us know by Friday of the previous week and, if stocks (and the value of the box) allow, we’ll include them in your box.
