Weekly Update – 18th August 2014

Starting with Discovery: 2kg for £5, in addition to your regular order.

We are always keen to make sure you know which of the items in your box come from our own gardens and orchard, hence the summer proliferation of bags with labels. However, a lot of these are not really necessary to maintain freshness in the way polythene bags are with leafy greens so, if it’s OK with you, we’ll aim to reduce all the paper baggage from now on and direct you to the paragraph below which lists our home grown produce.

It’s delicious as pesto and in salads. Two packs for £2.

If you haven’t ordered already, now is the time to take advantage of all the summer bounty being harvested from the polytunnels. It’s our best deal of the year so far: add 7 Low Luckens items to your order for just £5.00. Sorry no swaps with this one – we make up the veg bonus boxes with the items that are ready that week and we save time on packing by making everybody’s the same. And as with all bonus produce, this is an addition to the items you would be getting in your regular order.

Cavolo nero kale, Discovery apples and celery are ready now. We also have lots of Greek basil, cherry tomatoes, komatsuna, Florence fennel, French beans, midi cucumbers, courgettes, lettuces, Oriental leaves, pak choi, rainbow chard, flat leaf parsley and regular kale. Following on from our first harvest of plums in July, another variety of should be ready soon.

The Cumbrian new potatoes are Colleen. We also have English plums, French peaches as well as Galia melons and watermelons from Spain.

We have 25 different box types and they may or may not contain the items listed above. If you would like to receive any of them, let us know by Friday of the previous week and, if stocks (and the value of the box) allow, we’ll include them in your box.
