Weekly Update – 14th July 2014

The summer holidays are coming! Please let us know in good time (by Friday of the previous week) if you need to cancel your delivery.

The polytunnels are reaching peak veg production and it’s time to announce our best deal of the year: add 7 Low Luckens items to your order for just £5.00. Sorry no swaps with this one – we make up the veg bonus boxes with the items that are ready that week and we save time on packing by making everybody’s the same. And as with all bonus produce, this is an addition to the items you would be getting in your regular order.

Two big lettuces for £1.50. We have lots of the frilly red one and a new red oak leaf type. The two you get could be either of those. You will probably be getting one in your box anyway so be sure you know what to do with three big lettuces in a week before placing your order!

Two midi cucumbers for £1.00. The varieties are Passandra and Melen.

The first of our own plums are ready now and Greek basil will be ready soon. We also have lots of broad beans, French beans, midi cucumbers, courgettes, lettuces, Oriental leaves, pak choi and kale as well as edible flowers including Nasturtium, borage, Viola, sage and marigold. We also continue to harvest smaller amounts of rainbow chard, curly and flat leaf parsley as well as the last of the strawberries.

The Cumbrian new potatoes are called Colleen. We are also buying in regular and vine tomatoes from Gloucestershire, watercress from Wiltshire, green Primo cabbage from Lincolnshire. We also have cherries, apricots and peaches from France and Galia melons from Spain.

We have 25 different box types and they may or may not contain the items listed above. If you would like to receive any of them, let us know by Friday of the previous week and, if stocks (and the value of the box) allow, we’ll include them in your box.
